Admissions FAQ

Results & Notifications

1. When and how will I find out if my student received an offer? Status notifications (Acceptance or Waitlist) will be released on February 27, 2026. You will receive an automated email via the address used for your application. You can also log into the SchoolMint portal at any time on or after that date to check your student's status directly.

2. How can I view my child's specific admissions exam results? Per district policy, results are not mailed or emailed. The process for viewing results depends on your student's status:

  • Accepted Students: Viewing is automatic and takes place during your scheduled Campus Tour (March 3 – March 13, 2026).

  • Waitlisted Students: You have the same window (March 3 – March 13) to view results, but you must call the school office to schedule a specific appointment.

  • Policy: For all families, viewing is for informational purposes only. Per District policy, we cannot provide physical copies, and no photographs of the results are permitted.

3. How are the on-site essay prompts standardized? To maintain testing integrity, a unique reading passage and writing prompt are used for each individual testing session. This ensures that students testing later in the season do not have an advantage over those who tested earlier. All prompts are selected by District Reading Language Arts (RLA) experts to be grade-level appropriate.

4. If my child wasn't familiar with their specific essay topic, were they at a disadvantage? No. This is an evidence-based Extended Constructed Response (ECR). Because students are provided with a reading passage and must use specific evidence from that text to support their argument, no prior knowledge of the topic is required to be successful.

5. I received an offer! How do I get details for the "I am Travis TAG" Onboarding Night? Congratulations! Specific details (times, locations, and what to bring) for the onboarding nights on March 31st or April 1st will be sent to you via email only after you officially accept your offer in the SchoolMint portal.

Waitlist & Support Policies

6. I am on the waitlist. How does it move and how will I be notified? If a seat becomes available, the school will contact the next person on the rank-ordered waiting list.

  • Notification: We will call the parent/guardian of the next student on the list to extend an offer.

  • Acceptance Deadline: Families called from the waitlist have 5 school days to confirm or decline the offer.

  • Tours for Waitlisted Families: When you receive a call with an offer from the waitlist, you will also be offered a date for a campus tour so you can experience the environment before making your final decision.

7. How long does the waitlist stay active? Per Dallas ISD policy, the magnet waitlist remains active until the 10th day of the new school year. Once this window closes, the list expires and no further vacancies are filled for that academic year.

8. How many students from my child's current school were accepted? To maintain the privacy and integrity of the selection process, we do not share acceptance data specific to individual feeder patterns or neighborhood schools.
