Thank you for your interest in William B. Travis Vanguard and Academy for the Academically Talented and Gifted . Travis TAG enrolls about 500 students total in grades 4-8 in the heart of uptown Dallas. We are currently both the #2 middle school and #2 elementary school in Texas in the US News and World Report Rankings (Middle school rankings and elementary school rankings). 

It is too late to apply to Travis TAG for next year: applications closed for the 2025-2026 school year on January 31, 2025.

Qualified applicants who have been assigned a seat in the magnet program will be notified by e-mail via the SchoolMint system on March 1, 2025.   

The application period for next school year (2025-2026) ran from November 1, 2024, to January 31, 2025. Travis TAG took applications for incoming 4th grade (96 students) and incoming 6th grade (24 students). In addition, this year we opened 6 additional seats in 7th and 8th grade. Students could also apply for 5th grade, although we do not currently have  official vacancies. Those will be published later in April 2025. 

As a Dallas ISD public school, residents within Dallas ISD are given priority in the application process. (You may check to see if you are an in-district resident by typing your address into Dallas ISD’s School Finder site here.)  Once all qualified in-district applicants have been admitted, out-of-district students may be considered.  No out-of-district students were admitted for the past two years at Travis TAG.  Planning to move to Dallas in the future does not enable a student to apply as an in-district student.  Students must currently live within the boundaries of Dallas ISD when they apply in order to be considered in-district.  Temporary or secondary addresses do not count.  

Each year, we offer two open house sessions, one in November and the other in January.  School tours are available on selected Mondays and Fridays from October through January.
