Application Date

Test Date and Time

January 20, 2026 - January 31, 2026

Saturday, February 7, 2026 - 9:00 AM

Please note: in order to be registered for testing on any of the three dates above, your application MUST be marked as eligible by the day listed in the left column of table.

Please review this document: Travis TAG On-Site Assessment Information 2026-2027

The On-Site Assessment is 50 points (half) of a student's total score.

The On-Site Assessment is two parts and BOTH parts are computer-based

  • Computer-based: Critical Thinking - assessed using the NNAT3 exam.
  • Computer-based: Writing - assessed using an argumentative/opinion typed essay. This portion of our on-site assessment is aligned to the Texas 3rd-5th grade STAAR essay.

Please read the On-Site Assessment Information document linked above for more information about the test including testing accommodations.

NOTE: The essay portion changed a couple of years ago. Students will no longer be responding to a personal narrative writing prompt. Instead, we have aligned the essay to the Grade 3-5 STAAR test, which tests argumentative/opinion writing.

Once your application has been submitted and processed, you will receive an automated message on your application dashboard with your student's test date. Test dates are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Please plan to arrive at 8:30 AM, to allow for check-in and room assignments. The test will begin promptly at 9:00 AM. Students will be done by 11:00 AM.

NOTE: If you are a Dallas ISD student, please be sure to bring your district-issued device for testing. We only have devices for out-of-district students. The NNAT3 exam must be administered on a district-issued device.

For students applying to a magnet school with NNAT3 as part of the on-campus assessment process:

The Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test® (NNAT®3) is used as an assessment tool for Gifted/Talented identification and assessment. If your child is tested for the NNAT3 during the identification process for Gifted and Talented at the enrolled school,  the score will be used for any magnet school applications submitted for the 2026-2027 school year. Students will not be allowed additional NNAT3 testing opportunities as part of the magnet assessment.
